Russian ownership and governing law
8Muse's owners and operators are based in the Russian Federation. This site, this copyright policy, and our handling of copyright reports are governed by the applicable laws of the Russian Federation, not by the laws of the United States.
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is a United States law. Reports sometimes described as “DMCA notices” are handled here as voluntary copyright reports, not as a statutory U.S. DMCA procedure. Submitting a report does not by itself create or acknowledge United States jurisdiction.
Copyright policy
8Muse respects intellectual-property rights and reviews complete claims of infringement under applicable Russian law. Before reporting material, consider whether you have a valid legal basis for the request. Only a copyright owner or an authorized representative should submit a removal request.
Email alternative
If the secure form is unavailable, email a complete signed report to [email protected] with “Copyright Report” in the subject. Do not submit the same report through both channels. A mailing address for the responsible contact will be supplied upon request.
Required report information
A complete copyright report should include:
- a physical or electronic signature of the owner or authorized representative;
- identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list of works;
- the exact URL and enough detail for us to locate the allegedly infringing material;
- your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- evidence of ownership or authority to act for the owner, where available;
- a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized and that the information supplied is accurate.
Incomplete reports may delay our response. We may forward your report and contact information to the person who supplied the material.
Restoration objections
If material was removed because of mistake or misidentification, select “Restoration objection” in the secure form above or email a signed objection to [email protected] containing:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal;
- an explanation of why removal resulted from mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, and telephone number;
- supporting evidence showing your rights to the material, where available.
We may send the objection to the original claimant. 8Muse will decide whether and when to restore material after reviewing the available information and the requirements of applicable Russian law. No United States statutory restoration deadline applies to this process.
Repeat infringement and false reports
In appropriate circumstances, we may terminate accounts of repeat infringers. Knowingly submitting false, misleading, or abusive reports may result in rejection, account action, and liability under applicable law. Consider speaking with a qualified lawyer if you are unsure of your rights.
